Chester Hill shooting: Man injured after shots are fired at home

Five men allegedly stormed into a family home before shooting a man and hitting a woman with a baseball bat.

Emergency services were called to Esme Avenue in Chester Hill about 4.40pm on Thursday following reports of shots fired.

It is alleged five men forced their way into the home and threatened the family with several weapons, including a baseball bat and a firearm.

One of the men allegedly struck the 46-year-old woman with the bat, before another allegedly fired a shot at the 48-year-old man, wounding him.

Police said a number of children were home at the time of the incident but were not injured.

The group then allegedly fled the scene in two dark coloured sedans.

Officers found a 48-year-old man suffering from minor injuries.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene.

A woman in her 40s suffering from head and back injuries believed to be related to the shooting incident was also treated by paramedics, according to NSW Ambulance.

No arrests have been made and police are looking for a “number of people” believed to be behind the attack.

Police cars were seen lining the suburban street, which is still considered an active crime scene, with officers interviewing neighbours and those who witnessed the incident.

Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
